Sound Unseen kicks off the weekend with three of our favorite local Minneapolis bands. Join us at The Green Room for a night of rock n’ roll and general merriment.

SCRUNCHIES
Scrunchies is a three-piece art rock/punk band that brings a loud and energetic live set, recalling the messy and cathartic energy of late 80s grunge, punk, and post-punk bands.

BLACK WIDOWS
Black Widows are a surf-punk band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bassist Pamela Laizure and guitarist Corinne Caouette founded the band in 2015 and continue to rock with a slew of talented drummers and guest performers. Black Widows' twangy surf guitar, gritty bass grooves, riot grrrl vocals, and slick beats will move you outta your seats!

Black Widows have toured coast to coast in the U.S. from New York City to LA with stops in major cities like Chicago, Detroit, and Las Vegas sharing the bill with national & international acts including Bombino, Dale Watson, L.A. Witch, Shonen Knife, Olivia Jean, The Coathangers, Death Valley Girls, Agent Orange, The Darts, Tsushimamire, Man or Astro-Man, The Trashmen, Ichi-Bons, Messer Chups, and more! They just returned home from their national and international tour and are staying close to home working on a full length album. Follow them to see what they are up to next!

THEYSELF
Commonly known as ‘Doc’ Pat Dougherty is the artist and songwriter behind theyself. A multi-instrumentalist Doc has released records with several bands including Elle PF and Fairfax, AK

After DIY touring the United States for a few years, Doc took a year off to write a song a week and formed the sound that led to theyself: a rootsy voice dripped in soul over a blend of blues, dance folk, and house music. In 2018 the project was nominated for ‘Best New Band’ by City Pages.

Their debut EP Wolf Tower was tracked one night on an 8-track tape recorder in a hotel room using a pair of headphones as a makeshift microphone. It came in at #7 on KBEK's MN Records of the Year and was featured by Melodic Noise as a 2019 EP of the Year.

In 2020 Doc was listed as an artist to watch by Twin Cities Pride Magazine and most recently released “1500” which was recorded in their touring van in South Minneapolis and from random outposts off MN highway 61. In February the EP was listed as "Best New Music" by MSP Mag and The Current.
