Where would musicians and music lovers be without the cassette? This feature-length DIY doc tells the story of a once-ubiquitous format through one-on-one interviews with the inventor of the cassette, Lou Ottens. 90 years old and still a stubborn progressive, Ottens views the cassette as a perfect example of obsolescence and feels the same about himself as he lives out a secluded retirement in his native Holland. Musicians and authors like Henry Rollins, Thurston Moore, Rob Sheffield, and many others oppose Ottens by making an emotional case for music's worst format. These colorful vignettes play out like a mixtape, made to remind Ottens of the importance of his invention.
