"By taking the soundtrack and completely remixing it, they have given new meaning to Nas and Rahzel, with just the right dose of jungle and break-beat to take the decent chop flick right into matrix land. When a Kobuki singer starts belting out Slick Rick, you know you're not quite in Canton anymore." - YRB Magazine -1/02

Hop-Fu features DJs IXL and Excess of the Kolabz crew who conduct a LIVE score of the Kung Fu cinema masterpiece, "The Prodigal Son," complete with kicks, punches and jabs that are synchronized with scratching, tweaking and mixing of hip-hop recordings. A brilliant melding of kung-fu energy with two of the top hip-hop DJs in the country! Hop-Fu is the brainchild of Barry Cole and John Carluccio (dir. of BATTLE SOUNDS) who have a vision of bonding film and DJ composition to create inspiring and exciting work. DJs IXL and Excess embraced this musical experimentation of matching tempos of songs to moods of scenes and testing scratches and juggles over dramatic action. The results are at times funny, intense and imaginative.
