Music is essential to create a meaningful and successful project for any screen. This seminar brings Composers and Filmmakers together to get to know each other, to learn the latest rights and licensing issues and to explore how music affects, ameliorates and makes/breaks moving pictures. The seminar will break down into three sections: Music Rights and Licensing, moderated by Chris Osgood of Springboard for the Arts with a group of attorneys and filmmakers; The Art of Screen Composing, moderated by Craig Rice (Executive Director of the MN Film & TV Board) with a group of filmmakers and musicians; and a final Workshop – all attending filmmakers are invited to bring 30 seconds to one minute of footage. Musicians will work with the filmmakers to compose for and score the footage on site. This also serves as the catalyst for a 24-hour filmmaking contest, where participants can team up to produce a film within 24 hours based on a theme provided by DV-Cinema.

Brought to you by the American Composer's Forum, Future Perfect, The Minnesota Film & TV Board, Springboard for the Arts, Music Tech, Sound Unseen, DV-Cinema, and IFP MSP. To sign up, contact Springboard for the Arts at (651) 292-4381. For more info, contact The American Composer's Forum at (651) 228-1407. Music Tech College is located at 19 E. Exchange St., St. Paul.
